Edinburgh 2025

I have always wanted to visit the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. This year I went for a quick visit, mainly because a friend was appearing. Unfortunately my health will preclude further visits

Having got a taste for Scotland last year I decided to venture a bit further this time and made Portpatrick my base. From my hotel I went on day trips around the south west of Scotland

Amsterdam 2025

Last year's sourjon to Scotland has given me the taste for travel.

This time I decided to sample the delights of Eurostar and its far reach, Holland.

A train to London, a quick walk to the Eurostar terminal at St Pancras and it was a nice 4 hour journey to the centre of Amsterdam.

My hotel was a mere 100 yards from the station and I was in the middle of the old town.

The Old Town was full of character, even in the rain

Scotland 2024

On 28th August 2024 my ex, Roger, knowing he was dying, wed his carer/boyfriend so that Steve would be taken care of when he went. Having known Roger for more than 45 years, and having been his first love, my attendance was requested and I was determined to be there for his final bow.

The last time I drove to Scotland had been in December 1999 when I had a near fatal car cash and escaped with just a broken collar bone. This time was far happier and less stressful.
